When did you know you wanted to quit your day job and make blogging full-time?
It was a little over 3 years ago. I was extremely unhappy in my last 9-5 and when the opportunity came to do social media consulting for small brands as well as spend more time on my blog I jumped at the opportunity and never looked back. It’s truly been the best 3 years of my life!
What is your advice to those looking to make blogging full time?
Make sure you have a steady stream of income and maybe even get a side hustle! Cash flow is always the hardest part with any freelance job but especially with blogging. There’s seasonality as well as a lot of competition.
What’s your secret to success?
I’ve always been extremely driven. I enjoy working and even though I don’t have a 9-5 anymore, I probably work 60+ hours a week, but it’s different when you’re the boss.
How do you stay inspired? Do you ever hit creative blocks? What do you do when that happens?
Traveling! One of my favorite quotes is: "Travel to fill your tanks. If we're not seeing new life, we repeat ourselves. It is not a luxury - it is a necessity." — Genevieve Gorder via In the Company of Women. And I 100% believe this. Whenever I hit creative road blocks or just feel uninspired I can usually tie it to the fact that I haven’t traveled in a few months. A little getaway always turns things around.
If you could go back in time, what would you tell your younger self?
Everything always works itself out, don’t stress so much!
