What initially drew you to photography? How did you learn the ropes?
My interest in photography came about while studying Computer Art at The School of Visual Arts in Manhattan. Constantly searching for new mediums of art, photography was something that I soon realized went hand in hand with computer art. Having the technical education from schooling while being able to experiment with my photo style independently- got me hooked to the creative process.
What do you look for in a location?
What catches my eye when scouting out a location for a shoot is how the space’s frame can play off the subject. An end image that is able to tell a story that the audience can interpret for themselves are the most captivating to me.
How would you describe your photography style? What’s your favorite thing to shoot?
I would describe my photography style as charming with a whimsical lifestyle feel! Every new shoot for me is a chance to improve my artistic eye and editing capabilities. My favorite thing to shoot are portraits because I absolutely love being able to emphasize a person’s expression or body language in a still image.
How do you stay creative and inspired?
I think for me personally- living so close to such a dynamic city like New York has had such a positive & motivating influence on my work. With the accessibility of NYC to tons of people it has also provided me with newfound relationships and collaborations that keep me continually inspired.
What advice would you give to aspiring photographers wanting to make photography full time?
My best advice for aspiring photographers is to never stop creating. As you continue to create, the experience you gain while shooting will soon enough manifest itself through your art.
