How do you stay inspired?
I live life and do something different than what I’m used to. That goes from traveling to a new place, meeting a new person, going to an art exhibit that I haven’t seen. I feel as creativity is a power supply you have to keep replenishing with new experiences so you can keep growing and creating.
What do you look for in a location?
For locations, I look for character. That can be bright colors in a space or a run down area with textured walls/floor. Anything that I can build a world in and help tell the story I envision. Lighting is a big thing to think about. Is it outside? If so i’ll probably depend on natural light. Inside? Does it have natural lighting coming in? Does the location have enough outlets If I need lighting equipment? Just a bit of what I think of when I’m location scouting.
From ideation to execution, what is your creative process like?
Random idea pops into my head or I have just seen something that has inspired me. I type it down in my notes. Then I make a deck flushing out the concept, the models I want, where I want to shoot it, the equipment I need, the make up etc. I reach out to the individuals I want to work with. We make it happen.
What does creativity mean to you?
Freedom. Free to create the stories that exist in my head. Free to create an entire world, even if it exist for a few hours.
What is your advice to those looking to change careers?
Prepare if you can, but just make the change and figure it out as you go. People get caught up in the details and never make the jump. It's impossible to know how things are gonna work out. You can have a full scale plan and it could tragically fail. If you want and believe this is the change you need you better go for it. I think living with regrets would be much worse.
