The Big Idea

We kicked off our inaugural annual team retreat, BGIO Breathe Easy, in sunny LA. The big idea? Holding space for our small but mighty team of women who create space for countless women of color around the world to breathe easy through our podcast, online publication, events, and more!

Transforming the Space

From facials and an enneagram workshop in the loft and manicures and naps on the rooftop, to acroyoga and intention setting in the main room we were able to creatively use each space and breathe deep into a rich experience together. It aligned with our aesthetic and intentions so meaningfully.

Question & Answer

"
Nothing that is for me can be taken from me.
"
What is Black Girl in Om's mission?
Black Girl In Om creates space for women of color to breathe easy. BGIO promotes holistic wellness and inner beauty for women of color. We encourage self-care, self-love, and self-empowerment for communities of color.
What inspires you?
I'm inspired by the beauty, narratives, and resilience of black women. Honestly, I'm also inspired by my Self; specifically, what arises in my journey as a creative as well as my personal holistic wellness journey and the power that I hold to transform the world and create necessary spaces and experiences for marginalized people.
How does space foster community?
Space, specifically creative, inspiring and alternative space, has truly been everything for me during my past three years as a creative entrepreneur. The way that I curate a space is always with community in mind. I ask: how do I want the community gathered within the space I curate to feel as they step in?
How do you stay creative?
Develop an intention. Come back to it often. Create a mantra. Speak it often. Be patient. Persist and watch your dream flourish.
