What made you want to start your own company?
In all honesty, I never even thought about “entrepreneurship” or “starting a company”. My game-plan was to work in the non-profit sector. But, when I needed a job and couldn’t find one, I decided to create a website and start offering social media + design. More than anything, I think entrepreneurship found me and life decided that the time was right.
Where do you look for inspiration?
I try to soak in fresh inspiration everyday from music, conversations, atmospheres and space, and, of course, online resources like Pinterest and Instagram. Whenever I feel stuck creatively, I step away from my computer, take a walk outside, and listen to one of my creative unblock playlists.
What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs who are determined but aren’t sure where to start?
Two things: 1) Don’t be afraid to reach out to others you admire and ask questions. 2) Don’t be afraid to start small. It’s the little steps that we take everyday that take us where we want to go. It’s not always about the big leaps. Be intentional everyday to inch one step closer to your dream.
If you could go back in time, what would you tell your younger self?
If I could go back in time, I’d tell my younger self: “Don’t let the bad days get the best of you. It’s all going to be okay. Life is going to take you by surprise and it’ll be more beautiful than you could have ever imagined.
My life motto
“Disrupt culture + leave a lasting legacy.”
