How did you get into photography? How did you learn the ropes?
I started photography when I was about 15 years old. I was an intern at a local non-profit in Seattle and they gave me a camera for the summer to take photos of the children I was working with. I fell in love instantly and bought a camera later that summer with some money I had saved up. I then downloaded instagram, watched some youtube videos, and learned tons through trial and error.
How would you describe your photography style? What’s your favorite thing to shoot?
I would describe my style as whimsical, clean and colorful. I shoot a lot of people in my images, and i love how adding a person to an image can really add a different dimension to the photo. My favorite thing would be either automotive, or portraits.
How do you connect with your subject before a shoot?
Often times i’m driving long distances with my subjects even before we shoot - as I love driving to distant places to shoot. A couple hours of good conversation can really make the subject comfortable even before you take your camera out of the bag. Sometimes making a subject comfortable in front of you is the difference between a good and great image.
What advice would you give to aspiring photographers wanting to make photography full time?
Don’t give up on yourself and don’t do what everyone else is doing. Sounds cliché, but in reality those are two things that can really set yourself apart from everyone else in the long-run.
Your life motto
You can sleep when you’re dead.
